Vancouver Sun and CBC News Highlight Ongoing Columbia River Treaty Divide Between Canada-U.S.

To get a sense of just how interesting, if at times contentious, Canada-U.S. relations can be, check out CBCNews and The Vancouver Sun‘s discussion of the Columbia River Treaty disagreement.

Under a longstanding treaty impacting the Pacific Northwest, the United States contends that Canada owes a 20-year, $350 million tab for U.S.-provided energy.

Canada, on the other hand, argues that the U.S. derives other benefits from the Canadian dams that provide flood control to the Pacific Northwest.
